The International Conference on Historical Cryptology (HistoCrypt 2023) invites submissions of papers to its annual conference on historical cryptology. The conference will be held in June 20-22, 2023 at Deutsches Museum in Munich, Germany.
HistoCrypt addresses all aspects of historical cryptology/cryptography including work in closely related disciplines (such as history, history of ideas, computer science, AI, (computational) linguistics, or image processing) that is sufficiently formalized or applied, with relevance to historical ciphertexts and codes.
Accomodation
When visiting the conferece, there are several places for staying nearby the conference venue, i.e. the Deutsches Museum in Munich. The nearest stay would be Hotel Mariahilf which is less than a five minutes walk away from the Deutsche Museum. It is rather simple but very cute, and every room has a different vintage furniture. HistoCrypt addresses all aspects of historical cryptography and cryptanalysis. The conference’s subjects include, but are not limited to:
- the use of cryptography in military, diplomacy, business, and other areas
- analysis of historical ciphers with the help of modern computerized methods
- unsolved historical cryptograms
- mechanical encryption machines
- the history of modern (computer-based) cryptography
- special linguistic aspects of cryptology
- the influence of cryptography on the course of history
- teaching and promoting cryptology in schools, universities, and the public
We welcome everybody interested in the field of historical cryptology to participate in the event. We invite submissions to HistoCrypt for presentation at the conference, which will be evaluated by the program committee. Participation in the conference is mandatory for at least one author of each accepted paper.

Paper submisson
All submissions must follow the HistoCrypt style files, which are available for LaTeX (preferred) and MS Word:
- Template format: histocrypt.pdf

- LaTeX Template: histocrypt.zip
Papers must be submitted digitally, in PDF, and uploaded through the online conference system. The page limits for submissions are: up to ten pages for regular papers, up to four pages for short papers including bibliographic references. Paper submissions that violate the requirements will be returned to the authors.

HistoCrypt 2023 will take place from June 20-22, 2023 at the Deutsches Museum Munich. The main conference with keynotes and paper presentations will take place on the first day, followed by more paper and poster presentations on the second day. The conference will conclude on the third day with a free guided tour of the Deutsches Museum.
